Quote of the Week
If you detach yourself from the identification with the body and remain relaxed in and as Consciousness, you will, this very moment, be happy, at peace, free from bondage.
"The Ashtavakra Gita Dialogue" by Ramesh S. Balsekar,
and "Bringing Yoga to Life" page 57, by Donna Farhi

CommentaryThis quote identifies 'body identification,' i.e. the belief that we are the body, as the cause of our bondage.  Because we believe that we are our bodies, as opposed to having bodies, we become subject to all its whims, wants, and wishes; we are in bondage to it, and it becomes our master.  We invest almost all of our time, effort and energy in trying to satisfy its insatiable and unending desires because we've been fooled into thinking that its needs and desires are identical with ours; this is the deception that substitutes slavery for self service, and the price we pay for this pitiable state is our emancipation, peace, and happiness.  In truth, without this body identification, the roles reverse and the body becomes servant to us, ready, willing and able to serve our every need.  The body in truth is thrall to the mind that identifies with its true identity, the one Consciousness that is the source of all that exists; this is our true identity, primordial divinity, and destiny; this is the only correction we need real-ize (make real) to be free, peaceful, and happy.  We need only relax.  When we relax, we naturally and effortlessly begin to return to our divine, primordial perfection.  Take but one breath in then let it out, and you can feel yourself easily move in the direction of your inner peace.  Wash, rinse, and repeat to remain relaxed in and as the very Consciousness we already are.
Yogi Edmond.
