Quote of the Week
"He is declared to be unmanifest, unthinkable, unchangeable, therefore knowing Him as such you should not grieve."
Commentary: Because Arjuna was grieving over the impending loss of his family and friends due to this imminent war, Lord Krishna, in order to relieve this grief, has provided logical arguments from multiple perspectives to convince Arjuna of the deeper truth that we are Spirit having a physical experience of being in bodies. The nature of Spirit is that it is unmanifest--beyond the reach of physical reality, unthinkable--beyond all thought, and unchangeable--it cannot be affected by anything in physical reality. We are like actors in a play. dressed in the costume of bodies, playing a part in a much larger cosmic narrative. Our body costumes are not our true identity, but simply character props used to facilitate the play. Once we understand this, there is no need to grieve over lost bodies anymore than we need grieve over lost costumes.
