Quote of the Week
"Creatures are unmanifest in the beginning, manifest in the middle state and unmanifest again at the end, O Bharata! What grief is there in this?"
Commentary: The Taittiriya Upanishad, 3.6.1 states that "Out of bliss these beings are born; In bliss they are sustained, and to bliss they go and merge again," which emphasizes this week's quote. We emanate from the unmanifest state--described as eternal (sat) bliss (ananda) consciousness (chit)--so we may experience certain individual aspects of our unified wholeness. This is our purpose here in physical reality, to be, know and experience, for a while, the perspective of the part (jiva or ego-self), relative to the wholeness (Atman) that is our true identity. From the perspective of the eternal oneness there is neither loss nor death, as opposed to the perspective of the ego-self, which experiences apparent loss and death as a reality. This is the difference in their perspectives, Krishna's is eternal and free, while Arjuna's is limited, and therefore grief stricken.
