Events for
December 12 - 14th 2025

Quote of the Week
Sanjaya said:  Then Duryodhana the prince, seeing the army of the Pandavas drawn up in battle array, approached his master and spoke these worlds:  "Behold, O master, this great army of the sons of Pandu, arrayed by you wise pupil, the son of Drupada (Dhrishtadyumna.)"
Bhagavad-Gita 1.2-3

Commentary:  Sanjaya the clairvoyant and clairaudient charioteer of Dhritarashtra, the blind king of the Kurus, is narrating the events of the imminent war between the Kurus and the Pandavas.  Duryodhana, Dhritarashtra's eldest son, and the main instigator of the war, approaches his master Dronacharya, who taught the art of war to both the Pandavas and the Kurvas, and who like many others, through Duryodhana's guile and cunning, found themselves obliged to fight on the side of the Kuruvas.  Here, Duryodhana again demonstrates his subtle cunning by directing his master's attention to the size of the opposing army arrayed by the sons of Pandu (Arjuna and his brothers), and to its commander in chief Dhrishtadyumna the son of his childhood friend Drupada.  All so that Dronacharya does not weaver in his commitment to fight and win the war.
