Quote of the Week
"One whose happiness is within, whose contentment is within, whose light is all within, that yogi being one with Brahman attains eternal freedom in divine consciousness."
Bhagavad-Gita 5.24
Commentary: This verse describes the state of those who are in union with the Divine (Brahman.) Since their freedom, happiness, contentment, and light are all found within themselves, they have little or no attachment nor interest with respect to outer circumstances. They neither greatly rejoice nor are they greatly saddened by any external event because they know the eternal Source within is what gives rise to all the infinite variety of circumstances in the apparently external Creation, just as a dreamer gives rise to a world of dream characters and situations. They therefore respond to these external circumstances with equanimity and peace. Peace be with you!

This movie is a wonderful, poignant, graphic, serious and humorous look at what our higher human potential might look like. It explores by example what we as humans could be and do when we are willing to step past the mental blocks, accidentally or deliberately, that limits us to just what we can experience through our five senses, and to what we accept as "real" or possible in our experience. Getting past these mental blocks is simply a matter of changing our minds about what we believe, but is is not an easy trick to accomplish because of our long held beliefs about the world and our primal attachment to what our senses tell us is "real." We would rather suffer insult and injury in the defense of our beliefs rather than calmly and objectively examine and question them especially when they lead us to false, irrational, and often painful conclusions, but it is through such honest, objective examinations, that we can modify our beliefs as necessary to bring them more in accord with a higher wisdom about ourselves and our environment. This movie provides the insights we need to begin this glorious journey towards a higher, "more perfect" experience of ourselves and everything else. I'll leave you with two quotes from this movie that indicate its depth, and a reminder that any movie brave enough to meaningfully ponder these topics is well worth its salt, and well worth seeing, repeatedly:
"...everything is on its way to somewhere."
"...everything that we need is already in us."
Hope to see you there! ☺
