Quote of the Week
Sanjaya said: To him (Arjuna) thus overcome by compassion, full of sorrow, his eyes distressed and filled with tears, Madhusudana (Lord Krishna) spoke these words:
Partha! (Arjuna) Yield not to unmanliness. It is unworthy of you. Shake off this paltry faintheartedness. Stand up, O scorcher of enemies.
Bhagavad-Gita 2.1-3
Commentary: Sanjaya, the narrator of the Bhagavad-Gita, describes the inner and outer state of the warrior Arjuna, who has positioned his chariot between the two opposing armies and suddenly realizes that he has lost his initial conviction and determination to quickly engage and eliminate the opposing army composed of his relatives, friends teachers etc. Sanjaya describes him as overcome by compassion, full of sorrow, his eyes filled with tears, and since this is the least desirable state for a warrior to be in as he is about to engage in battle, Lord Krishna (God, appearing as Arjuna's friend and charioteer) addresses Arjuna with harsh words, to shake him out of this debilitating state. Lord Krishna is the one who orchestrated the current scene to teaches Arjuna and all of posterity the value of surrender, which is the door through which new knowledge and wisdom comes. In order to bring Arjuna or any of us into a receptive state where we could truly understand and appreciate the value of everything that is happening in our life, we must first surrender, which only comes when we are at our wits end. With these providential words from Lord Krishna, Arjuna is beginning to realize that he cannot, by himself, solve his present conflict between his mind (duty) and heart (compassion). Fortunately for him and for us as well, God is always with us and by providence set the stage for our surrender and subsequent empowerment. .

This will be more of a discussion of the movie rather than a watching of it, so if you can, please see or review the movie so you can add to the discussion. I am hoping we can expand the discussion to include the broader subject of Love from a feminine perspective, as opposed to the male perspective portrayed in the movie. Women are encouraged to attend and share their views, and men interested in the feminine perspective are welcomed to come and listen, so that we may perhaps understand women better. 😁
