Quote of the Week
Actions are in every case performed by the Gunas (forces or laws) of Nature. He whose mind is deluded by the sense of "I," holds "I am the doer." But he who knows the truth about the division of the gunas and their (inter)actions, O mighty armed, knowing that it is the gunas that act upon the gunas, remains unattached.
Bhagavad-Gita 3.27-28
Commentary: If someone is assigned a particular action, and does it, we normally do not attribute authorship of that action to him, even though we acknowledge that his body is performing the action, we instead attribute authorship to the one who gave him the assignment. In this week's quote, we are introduced to the Gunas (laws) of Nature that perform all the actions we perceive in the world. But since these actions are performed through our bodies, senses, minds, and intellects, we mistakenly believe that we are the ones performing the actions and thus become deluded into thinking that we are its authors. In a similar fashion, the characters in our dreams seem to be acting independently, but we know empirically that we, as dreamers, are the true authors of all the actions occurring in our dreams. Similarly, God is the author of all the apparent actions performed by the Gunas through us. This knowledge gives us the foundation to become more gentle, understanding, and compassionate to everyone, since we are all actors simply playing the roles we agreed to play in this cosmic drama called physical reality.

This is a romantic love story about dreams and love that never die. There is one line in this movie that really stands out. It reminds us that what was important when we were young is still important as we we grow older. No its not the things you did or didn't do, its all about the love of it, the energy that motivates you to keep going in a certain direction, even when the odds are against you and you feel defeated. The line is this: "It's a trip you know, when you are a kid you see the life you want, but it never crosses your mind that it might not turn out that way." As a kids we see the goal clearly and this is the source of our motivation, our inspiration, our determination. We may not know what the true goal is, but truly, it's always about the love that puts us on the path and keeps us there, win or loose.
