Quote of the Week
"That man indeed whom these (contacts) do not disturb, who is even-minded in pleasure and pain, steadfast, he is fit for immortality, O'best of men."
Bhagavad-Gita 2.15
Commentary: In the previous verse, Lord Krishna asked Arjuna to patiently bear the experiences that arise when the senses come into contact with their objects, because these experiences are transient and a natural function of this relative, temporal, human experience. In this verse he goes even further by stating that one who remains undisturbed, even-minded, and steadfast in the face of these passing experiences is fit for immortality. Clearly the Lord knows that everyone is immortal, given that we are all expressions of His divine nature, but He is pointing out that those who are established in the knowledge of their divine identity are naturally undisturbed, even-minded, and steadfast in the presence of sense experiences, thus immortality befits them; they are not trying to remain undisturbed, etc., that state of being is just the natural response of being established in the knowledge of their true identity. The Lord is quietly teaching us that the degree to which we are disturbed, etc., by these sense experiences is the degree to which we are currently unaware of our true divine identity and nature.

A gentle coming of age movie about a kid in search of a lost father. Fortunately the kid finds all that he needs and more in terms of a father figure, friend and mentor in the loving care of his uncle, with loving support by his mother, grandfather and his uncle's buddies, he matures into a wise adult. His uncle is a tender, well read guy who runs a local bar; hence the movie title. I especially appreciated the wisdom, honesty, and loving mentorship he provides to the kid. A very heart warming movie.
