Quote of the Week
To him, O Bharata (Dhritarashtra), sorrowing in the midst of the two armies, Hrishikesha (Lord Krishna) smilingly spoke these words:   
Bhagavad-Gita 2.10 

Commentary:   Arjuna, having exhausted all possible avenues for a solution that would satisfy both his call of duty as a warrior, and his compassion for his relatives and friends in the opposing army, is now ready, willing and able to listen to Lord Krishna's response, hopeful for a satisfactory solution.  Sanjaya in this verse describes the highly contrasting present state of Arjuna and Lord Krishna:  Arjuna is full of sorrow, having decided that not fighting in the imminent war is his best response, he sits quietly on the seat of the chariot awaiting the Lord's response.  Lord Krishna, by contrast stands above him smiling, happy to address this, for Him, paltry problem Arjuna has laid out before Him.  This is the second dramatic turning point in this epic drama; the first being the profound effect created by the first words spoken by Lord Krishna: "Behold these Kurus gathered together", which immediately changed Arjuna's state of mind from that of a brave and skillful warrior eager to make short work of the impending conflict, into that of one overcome by extreme compassion for the destruction he is about to inflict on his relatives and friends.  This second turning point where the dawning of the light of Lord Krishna's infinite wisdom is about to remove the darkness of Arjuna's sorrow, is both the resolution of that first turning point, and the solution to Arjuna's conflict between the dictates of his heart (compassion) and that of his mind (duty).
