Quote of the Week
As the dweller in this body passes into childhood, youth, and age, so also does he pass into another body. This does not bewilder the wise.
Bhagavad-Gita 2.13
Commentary: There is an aspect of Life (Existence) that is eternal and unchanging! This is our innate divine nature; our true and absolute identity; the field within which the experiences of our relative lives occur. We tend to think of this absolute identity as living within the physical body, but it is quite the opposite, the body and all of our physical experiences live within the field of our true identity. Just as all of our thoughts and dreams live within our minds, even though we can experience them as actual physical realities. The wise are they who know this true identity and are not bewildered by the temporal changes of our physical experiences. They understand that these relative changes are always occurring moment to moment; from birth to childhood, to youth, to old age, and eventually back into the non-physical where another body may be chosen. Even though the transition into the physical (birth,) and into spirit or non-physical (death,) are more dramatic events, they are essentially identical to the on-going changes that occur our physical lives from day to day. The wise therefore treat the transitions from spirit to physical and vice versa, from age five to six, and even the transitions into higher states of consciousness equally.
