Vishnu's Couch is pleased to present:
Impromptu Poetry Night
Friday, February 21st at 8:00pm

Why now?  Just because it feels right.  Just because the need is now, and there's never not a good time for poetry.  And just for the joy of being together in the presence of some inspiring words.  So without fussing about finding the perfect one, just gather one or two of your favorite inspiring poems and come share them with your friends, or if you wish, just come and be inspired.

In the words of Goethe:  "Every day we should hear at least one little song, read one good poem, see one exquisite picture, and, if possible, speak a few sensible words."

61 Prospect Ave. 4th Floor
Binghamton, NY 13901

Vishnu's Couch Yoga Studio presents
Group Meditation and Satsang Retreat
Sunday, February 23rd.
From 1:00 - 4:00pm
at
61 Prospect Ave. 4th Floor
Binghamton, NY 13901

Meditation is the most effective means for significant beneficial change in our lives and in the world, simply because it facilitates access to the deeper layers of our true Self--the source of our being.  And since practicing in groups significantly increases the effects (see research), please take advantage of this opportunity to dive deeper and marinate longer in the blissful silence of meditation.

The day will consist mostly of sitting meditation punctuated by:
walking meditation, relaxation, sound meditation, pranayama, gentle asanas, Satsang, and a light vegan Soup-du-jour.

Join-in at any time;
stay for as long as you would like and
invite your friends along; the more the merrier!

Donations welcomed

-----------Other Local Events----------

Raja Yoga and Satsang

Raja Yoga is the royal yoga that brings the nature of our True Self to our awareness.  This awareness cannot be gained through perception or intellectual knowledge, it can only be known through cognition, like the knowledge that I am, that I exist, it needs no proof, but without this knowing, the experience remains limited and misunderstood.  Come join us as we enjoy the fragrance of our True Self through:
Silence, Meditation, Breathing, and gentle relaxing Postures.

"King Cake" ---  Fun, Fun, Fun

Mardi Gras (French for Fat Tuesday) is the last day before Lent begins on Ash Wednesday.
Traditionally, they made and ate pancakes (a symbol of good luck) to use up dairy.
Lots of good food like beignets(donuts without holes) and sweetbreads were eaten before Lent and its season of traditional fasting began.

Mardi Gras is a way to celebrate the abundance of God as we get ready to think about Jesus during Lent.  So, let the good times roll at FCC on this Sunday, Feb. 23rd.
Come to worship and for the food, not just the food and fun later.

Wednesday, Ash Wednesday, Feb. 26 will have a service
and ashes at 7 pm. in the Chapel at FCC.

30 Main Street, Binghamton, Eden Room.
