Moving From Empetiness Youtube Trailer

Written Produced and Directed by:  Shaeri Richards and Jrry Hartleben
Genres:   Documentary
Running Time:  69 min

Playful.  Profound.  Meditative.  Deeply healing.  Moving from Emptiness: The Life and Art of a Zen Dude is more than just a film, it’s a transformational experience.  The 69-minute documentary film features the work and teachings of Zen calligraphic painter Alok Hsu Kwang-han. Through his personal history, art, workshops and his relationship with fellow artist Raylene Abbott we discover the creativity and magic that become possible when we are simply “present, available, playful and not knowing.”

 Workshop
Following the movie, we will enliven the energy of the film by participating in a drawing and/or Haiku writing session based on the principles of Presence and Non-attachment expressed in the film.  A Haiku consists of three lines:  the first and last line has 5 syllables each, the middle line has 7 syllables.
:) happy....Hope  to see you there.

The Surrender Experiment (week 7 of 8)
Announcing a new Meditation/Book Club
Led by our own Matt LaBarre

This Book Club will focus for Eight Weeks on
The Surrender Experiment: My Journey into Life's Perfection
by Michael A. Singer, author of The Untethered Soul.
at
Vishnu's Couch Yoga Studio
61 Prospect Ave. 4th floor.

Sunday Nov. 22nd
and next Sunday Nov 29th
from 1:00 - 3:00pm (or later)

The format for the Book Club is as follows:

  • At 1:00pm after a short instruction/focus to incorporate some simple but advanced meditation tips to support our physical and mental bodies we will meditate for 1 hour listening to the audiobook.

  • Followed by 1 hour satsang (group sharing/discussion) on meditation and/or the audiobook which I will guide and facilitate. We will also use some techniques of sharing that will open our hearts and allow us to speak and listen from our deeper self.  NO PRESSURE to share or participate. You are welcome to just come and be and stay or leave.
  • At 3:00pm we will end discussion and we will move from the meditation area to kitchen/dining and can stay for food and further conversation if desired.  Vegetarian food/snacks are welcomed to be brought to share during the optional time after discussion, but bringing something is not required to stay.

A copy of the book is recommended for personal study/enjoyment but is also not required. I have contacted publisher about doing a bulk order and will provide details to those who RSVP.  With that said please RSVP if possible. This too is not required but can help us to plan better. This is also a great way to set an intention to come. There is additionally the thought to read The Untethered Soul in free time and keep The Surrender Experiment to the group. Again this is just a thought. If appeals to you go for it!

Raja Yoga Class and Satsang
Raja Yoga is the royal yoga that brings the nature of our True Self to our awareness.  This awareness cannot be gained through perception or intellectual knowledge, it can only be known through cognition, like the knowledge that I am, that I exist, it needs no proof, but without this knowing, experience remains limited and misunderstood.  Come join us as we explore our True Self through:
Silence, Meditation, Breathing, and gentle relaxing Postures.

GONG BATH SOUND HEALING PERFORMANCE
Tuesday, December 1st at 7:00 to 8:00 pm
at the Endicott Visitors Center
Suggested Offering: $15

The next Gong Bath on December 1st will be a powerful one as each one of the three Gongs will carry the vibrations of Love, Peace and Light.  I will open with the affirmation below and the vibrations of the Gongs will be carried to everyone in the room and beyond.  The affirmation is also good for you to use for yourself during these chaotic times.  I will also be playing the Crystal Bowls and Pyramids.

Love before me, Love behind me, Love at my left, Love at my right, Love below me, Love above me; Love into me; Love in my surroundings; Love to all Love to the Universe.
Repeat replacing "Love" with "Peace" and "Light" respectively.

Listeners often experience a sense of connectedness and peace as the sacred sound of the Gongs and Bowls clears blockages and restores the free flow of vital energy throughout the body.  With its ability to induce a spontaneous meditative state, the gong offers listeners access to parts of the mind that are usually closed, resulting in a sense of expanded awareness and higher consciousness.  Sound Healing is often used to re balance, tone and bring harmony to the physical, emotional and spiritual bodies.  If you would like to lay down, bring something comfortable to lay on (mats, pillows, blankets, etc.) and let the Gongs take you away!  Please make sure you are grounded before leaving and drink lots of water after the event.
