Quote of the Week
"i Choose the Joy of God Instead of Pain"
It is your thoughts alone that cause you pain.  Nothing external to your mind can hurt or injure you in any way.  There is no cause beyond yourself that can reach down and bring oppression.  No one but yourself affects you.  There is nothing in the world that has the power to make you ill or sad, or weak or frail.  But it is you who have the power to dominate all things you see by merely recognizing what you are.  As you perceive the harmlessness in them, they will accept your holy will as theirs.  And what was seen as fearful now becomes a source of innocence and holiness.

Commentary:  This is an important point to remember:  That we have the freedom to choose what we experience based on our thoughts.  Our thoughts, feelings, perspectives, speech, and actions all naturally arise from what we believe, and our beliefs are simply the thoughts we hold dear as absolute and unequivocal truths.  If we believe we are victims then that is what we will experience, but just as easily, if we believe that we are the holy children of God then that is how we will experience our lives.  We each have the power to choose, and as we choose, so we experience.  Knowing this allows us to begin to make better choices, choosing joy more often and consistently within the context of the theme of our life purpose in this physical dream we call reality.  In the iconic words of the He-man comic book character:  "I have the power!"

Quote of the Week
"I call upon God's Name and on my own"
"The Name of God is my deliverance from every thought of evil and of sin,
because it is my own as well as His"
Bhagavad-Gita 3.3

Commentary:  To call upon God's Name is to invoke the infallible power of creation and focus it on some apparent situation or problem. which always produces a positive effect, whether we notice it or not.  This is the value of prayer, which is a request for an adjustment to our perception; a petition to see with better eyes, if you will.  Prayer is the recognition that our perception is amiss, that we have superimposed the limited perception of our ego-self over the wholistic perfection of God's Creation and therefore we perceive "problems."  The correction offered by the quote is to turn our awareness to God, and away from our limited ego perceptions.  Thus are our prayers answered as we remember our unity with God.

Group Mantra Chanting (Japa)
From 4:00 - 4:30pm

The purpose of Japa is to remember and reawaken the divine in our awareness.  We repeat the name of God to remember our inherent perfection.  As expressed in this week's quote, "we call upon God's Name and on our own" to remind us of our true eternal divine identity.
Hari, Krishna, and Rama, are just three of the thousand names of God in the Vedic tradition.  If you prefer, you may substitute, any name from any tradition, including your own, for in truth, all names are God Who is the Source of everything in Creation.

Events for
July 18 - 20th, 2025

Quote of the Week
"The blessed Lord said:  As expounded by Me of old O blameless one, there are in this world two paths:  the Yoga of knowledge for men of contemplation, and the Yoga of action for men of action"
Bhagavad-Gita 3.3

In this verse, the Lord Krishna makes clear that there are two paths to enlightenment, and that we should choose the appropriate path according to our temperament:  The Yoga of Knowledge for those who enjoy contemplation, and the Yoga of Action for those who enjoy acting.  It must be clearly understood that there is a great deal of overlap and interdependence between the two paths, for one must act in order to gain knowledge, and knowledge, without exception, is always a result of action.  The knowledge and action being recommended here is that which leads directly to union with the Divine, which includes practices like meditation, and study of the Self, (or any related practice to which one is attracted,) and which excludes all knowledge and action related to the apparent world of physical reality

 Events for
July 11 - 13th, 2025

Quote of the Week
"For one whose delight is in the Self alone, who is content in the Self, who rejoices only in the Self, for him there is no action that he need do.  Neither has he any profit to gain in this life from the actions he has don or from the actions he has not done; nor is there any living creature on whom he need rely for any purpose."
Bhagavad-Gita 3.17-18

Commentary:  These verses express the state of one who has gained enlightenment, who remembers his true identity as one with the Divine.  This is not a difficult state to attain when we realize that it is the natural inherent state of everyone and everything in Creation; we are all expressions of the Divine that have forgotten our true identity.  The correction therefore is simply the act of remembering one's true identity as a holy child of God, by giving more and more attention to the Divine within us via meditation, prayer, or any process to which we are attracted.  The purpose of any action in physical reality is to fulfill some desire or to reduce apparent pain and suffering, but how can a holy child of God be in lack or suffer when he is already one with the Divine.  The obvious and unavoidable conclusion is that the apparent state of lack and suffering is but an illusion.  When we realize this, we naturally realize our inherent Divinity and thus have no need of action and its fruits.
